SWEATER WITH SLIT: (To be sewn on sewing machine and cut up). After completion of 4 or 5 horizontal Star and Snowflake patterns, cast of the 11 cuttings sts. on each side. Knit front and back separately back and forth.
Front: = 117 – 117 sts. Cast off the center 25 – 25 sts. for front neck opening. Each part is to be knitted separately in half the pattern of graph I. Decr. one st. on the neckline border every other row 5 times. Let the rem. 41 – 41 shoulder sts. rest.
Do the other side to match.
Back: = 117 – 117 sts. Cast off the center 23 – 23 sts. for back neck opening. Each part is to be knitted separately in half the pattern in graph I. Cast off 2 sts. on the back neckline border every other row 3 times. Let the rem. 41 – 41 shoulder sts. rest.
Do the other side to match.
FRONT ROUND NECK: At 5" – 5" (13 – 13 cm) of armhole length, cast off the center 25 – 25 sts. for front neck opening and continue knitting around. On next row cast on 21 – 21 cutting sts. Stripe them vertically like the armhole cutting sts. For neck shaping decr. one st. every other row 5 times on each side of the cutting sts.
After completion of 4 or 5 horizontal Star and Snowflake patterns, do half the pattern of graph I.
Armhole =10 ¼" – 10 ¼" (26 – 26 cm).
Shoulder finishing:
Cast off 11 cutting sts.,
knit 41 – 41 sts. for shoulder,
cast off 21 – 21 cutting sts. in front,
knit 41 – 41 shoulder sts.,
cast off 11 cutting sts.,
knit 41 – 41 shoulder sts.,

35 – 35 sts. for back neck opening,
knit 41 – 41 shoulder sts.
Let the shoulder sts. rest.
SLEEVES: With 4 dpn. US# 6 (4 mm), cast on 48 – 52 sts. and do hand cuff as waist cuff.
At 2 ¾" (7 cm) both sizes of length, cont. knitting in round in MC for 2 rows. Incr. 30 – 26 sts. evenly over the 2nd row
